#5 – Spinal issues – normal sign of aging
Most of the spinal issues that are found on scans or MRIs are a normal sign of aging.
Any of the labels you got while going through a scan, are in fact not going to change.
Like my degenerated disc for instance that was blamed on being the cause of my back and leg pain. Well an MRI a year later showed it hadn’t changed at all despite all the efforts I did from the doctors recommendation. And you know what, the degenerated disc will probably get worse with the time.
It’s a normal sign of aging!
See the result of a study from 2014 which can be found in the US National Library of Medicine where MRIs of 3110 persons were analysed of people without pain.
Conclusion: the older you get, the more spinal ‘abnormalities’.

#6 – Chronic back pain is in most cases not a medical issue
In most cases, chronic back pain is just not a medical issue.
Chronic (non-cancer) pain has in most cases nothing to do with a spinal diagnosis, but it has everything to do with the mind-body connection. There are ‘things’ that are happening in your mind which have a physical reaction in your body. And these ‘things’ happen all the time! Normal human stuff.
Sorry, what ‘things’?? ‘Mind-body connection’??
Imagine you’re driving on the highway and suddenly a car brakes in front of you. What happens? In your mind you probably feel for a split-second some ‘fear‘. And the physical reaction can be turning pale, increased heart-rate, getting warm, sweaty hands. This is called a psycho-physical reaction, in other words a mind-body activity.
Blood flow
With chronic pain something similar happens; ‘something’ happens in the mind with stress and tension and due to reduced blood flow in a specific part in your body, you feel pain. In blood there’s oxygen and it’s actually this oxygen deprivation that’s causing the pain. There are medical studies available supporting this.
No worries: the pain is not ‘in your head’… the pain is real and can be excruciating!
#7 – Why most methods only give temporary back pain relief
There’s a reason why most methods only give temporary back pain relief and everything you tried so far hasn’t had any lasting effect. It couldn’t have.
Many pain sufferers have tried all sorts of therapies to get pain relief like:
- physical therapy
- chiropractic
- osteopathy
- acupuncture
- massage
- yoga, fitness, Pilates
Now what happens with these kind of therapies? It puts the body in movement and what does that do? It increases oxygen flow in the blood.

Make a trade off if you really want to have surgery:

❌ chiropractors don’t recommend if not necessary as it makes the spine actually inflexible
I had an appointment with a neurosurgeon who proposed to take out my degenerated disc and replace it with a silicon one and screw it to the other discs.
I’m so happy I didn’t go for surgery and get my back ‘screwed’!
